“Beauty isn’t worthy of trust. Yet human mind is such that it chooses the beauty that appeals to the eyes over the strength that appeals to the heart.”
― Koral Dasgupta, Ahalya
( I know I’m super late with my reviews, but this one was a series.)
P.S : I have reviewed ‘Draupadi’ before and I quite liked how the POV of Draupadi was discussed in the book, and I have always wanted to read Kunti’s POV so I got the other two books in the series too.
Let’s begin with the cover of the books – all three were subtle and beautiful. The vibe of the books was very soothing and refreshing.
The length of the books was good and as expected – they were a bit lengthy but not very boring. The pace of the stories was slow but I enjoyed the details in it.
Starting with Ahalya, I liked how the story begun. But as we reached the middle, the story was going on a snail’s pace. Same was the case with Kunti – as she explored the way of life, it felt as if I was a part of her journey too. But again, the slow pace bored me in some parts.
I’d recommend this book to beginners in Indian Mythology because it was an easy, fun read but one of my questions ( or maybe a mystery) still remains unanswered. That is,
What was Kunti’s mindset when she saw that Draupadi was the one she’d told her brothers to divide amongst themselves? Why didn’t she reverse her decision even after knowing that a woman’s life is on stake? Or she let fate guide her through her journey?
Thanks for reading!
