“There are a lot of children in Afghanistan, but little childhood.”

― Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner

‘The Kite Runner’ is one of the most hyped books on bookstagram. Khaled Hosseini’s debut novel, brings out the hardships of the war of the 1970s in Afghanistan and revolves around the lives of two boys – Hasaan and Amir.

The author’s writing style is indeed unique and has a story which stays with the reader for a long time. This is a page-turner work of fiction and is full of surprises and suspense.

Although I would not recommend this book to a beginner as it is a long read but interesting enough to not bore a reader, with a plot which is more needed to be understood than read.

It highlights the traumatic experience a 1970 Afghan must have had and will bring tears to your eyes after you finish it. A notable thing about the book is the friendship between Amir and Hassan and their devotion to each other.

I have personally loved this book and have re-read it many times. I do believe that this book deserves five stars.
